School of the Art Institute of Chicago — Graduate study. Awarded a Teaching Assistantship.

Practice

Fifty years of continuous studio practice in clay, bronze and aluminum.
Bodies of work: Vortex, Hoodoo, Meditation Through Time, Alchemic Ingots, Wave Form, Maelstrom, Smoke Form, wall reliefs, drawings and paintings.
Method: original forms are built in clay, digitally scanned, enlarged to monumental scale, and cast in bronze or aluminum. Several works are published as 3D models and can be examined in the round by the Committee before anything is fabricated.

Delivery of monumental work at scale

The following establishes capacity to design, engineer, permit, transport, foundation, install and maintain a large permanent object in a public setting — the requirement behind “projects of similar scale.

 
Certified Master Builder
Building since 1985; developing in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex since 1997. Residential projects delivered from $200,000 to $3,000,000 in Southlake, Colleyville, Keller and Grapevine.
Four decades of direct work with municipal plan review and permitting, structural engineers, geotechnical investigation, ADA compliance, stormwater and SWPPP requirements, subcontractor procurement, inspection sequencing, insurance and bonding, and closeout documentation.
Monumental sculpture of the artist’s own fabrication is presently sited outdoors on engineered foundations with steel anchorage and landscape aprons, including the Vortex and Wave Form works documented in the image inventory at Section 3.

Four decades in building and development inform the delivery of monumental and public work — engineered foundations, permitting, ADA compliance, crane and rigging coordination, installation, and long-term maintenance. This capability lets a selection committee treat a proposed sculpture as a deliverable project, not only an artwork.
